Changing “Maine” Directory
The Changing “Maine” Directory (CMD) is an online resource for change-makers to find detailed information on grassroots groups and nonprofits working for progressive causes in what is known as “Maine.” Each listing in the CMD includes detailed descriptions and the most up-to-date contact information for over 2,500 non-profit, grassroots, progressive, social change and social service organizations working throughout the state, some of which can be found in no other place. Previously called the Maine Alternative Yellow & Green Pages, since 1986 ROSC has continuously worked to keep this directory’s entries current, accurate, and relevant to help empower people looking to create positive, meaningful social change. **Please note that we’ve placed quotations around the name “Maine” because that is the colonial name given to the land we do our work on, which is unceded Wabanaki territory. European settlers have violently colonized this continent for hundreds of years, while the labor of Black people was forced and exploited to build the wealth of white families for generations. The work ROSC does is rooted in collective liberation, and we recognize that there is power in language. This land is unceded Wabanaki territory, colonially known as “Maine.”
