Radical Reading
for Radical People
Join us on Fridays from 12:00pm — 1:00pm for a virtual, political education read-aloud! Each week we’ll spend time reading out loud from various texts and ending our time together talking a little about what we heard. No one will be expected to read between our meet-ups, we’ll body double by reading together (with zero need for anyone to read out loud who doesn’t want to). Examples of texts we plan to cover include:
Starting Somewhere: Community Organizing for Socially Awkward People
by Roderick Douglass
Everything for Everyone: An Oral History of the New York Commune, 2052--2072
by M.E. O'Brien and Eman Abdelhadi
Enough! Poems of Resistance and Protest
edited by Claire Millikin and Agnes Bushnell
To Register: Email rosc.maine@gmail.com and put Rad Reading in the subject to ask to be added to our weekly reminders and to receive the Zoom link!
A note on accessibility: Real-time captions will be available, and screen shares will occur, allowing people to read along with what they're hearing and eliminating the need to purchase the text. We may also be recording the sessions to upload to our YouTube channel later - this will be pending author permissions.
